April in Jenin
Of Israel’s military offensive in April 2002 against Palestinian villages, the tragedy of Jenin refugee camp will forever be remembered. Avril à Jenine is the incredibly poignant testimony of an array of witnesses to the tragic event: Palestinians living in Jenin, members of human rights organizations, NGO doctors, or international witnesses, including Israelis who happened to be present at the time of the massacre. They all relate the intense violence of the attacks, the late access to the camp to the UN fact-finding mission, the blocking of ambulances and electricity from the area for days, and the bombing of civilian homes. Nahla Chahal, a sociologist and Hala Kodmani, a journalist give here for the first time a voice to those present at the time, a voice at once moving and distressing.
