Micki Pistorius, On the Trail of Serial Killers
Stéphane Bourgoin's book on Micki Pistorius is not a biography, but a living portrait of her various exploits as a psychologist for the special investigations unit of the French government. Since 1994, this 37-year-old woman has helped to arrest about 30 serial killers. Unlike Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs, whose life had a romantic twist, Pistorius finds herself plunged into the innermost depths of violence, murder, rape, and cannibalism. One of the first women profilers in the world, Pistorius has trained more than 500 cops to date. To write this unusual and gripping work, Stéphane Bourgoin spent several weeks with Pistorius. He also directed a documentary about her work for the French television station France 2.
